Monthly Artists Talk's

Clare Phelan

Thursday 22nd February 2024

6 .00 - 7.30pm

MEMBERS ONLY EVENT

We are delighted to present HBP member and artist, Clare Phelan, for our second artist talk at our workshop.

Clare will talk about her experiences as a full time Artist. The presentation will cover the ideas that underpin her practice, the print processes she uses and her experiences of exhibiting in galleries and art fairs since 2017.

After working as an Art Psychotherapist in the NHS for twenty years Clare returned to education completing a Masters Degree in ‘Visual Art’ at Bradford College in 2013. She spent the next three years honing her printmaking skills on the Complete Printmaker Course at Hot Bed Press. Clare will discuss the highs and lows of ‘putting your work out there’ and encourage debate on how best to balance the different aspects involved in an artist’s practice.

NEXT UP...

Thursday 18th April - 6-7.30pm

Dani Molyneux - Dotto Studio

A type-twisting artist and designer, and the person behind Manchester based creative studio, Dotto. Her work features powerful messages told through playful typography. She blends punchy colours, graphic lettering + evocative words to create big, bold pieces that take up space, make some noise and speak with conviction.

She will be chatting about setting up her studio, playing with (and balancing) creative disciplines, the ups and downs of creating personal work, selling work and work for commissions, alongside the beauty of collaboration.

Previous Talks...

October 2023

Mary Griffiths, Gatenby Fellow at The School of Fine Art, History of Art, and Cultural Studies, Leeds University, as well as a participant in the third year of our Complete Printmaker Course here at Hot Bed Press, graced us with her insights.

Mary graciously shared her expertise on the process of applying for Arts funding and her dynamic career and experiences as a creative professional. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mary for her time and for delivering an outstanding presentation. Prior to the event, we encourage you to explore her extensive bio and admire her beautiful work on her website and social media platforms.
