We have a range of materials available including papers, inks, screen emulsion, parcel tape/masking tape and lots more. These should be recorded on a daily bill sheet, which you collect by the door as you come in. We try to keep materials as affordable as possible. You are welcome to bring in all your own materials, but everyone must have a £10 materials card as credit in advance.
The support I get every day from staff and other members is so positive

How do I become a member?
We welcome new members any time of the year. We have two main types of membership, one pay as you go and one for open access. It's best to phone up to speak to Andy Magee, our Operations Manager, who manages all memberships. We can discuss whether you need an induction or are ready to start straight away. We can set up your membership straight away and your membership sheet, studio hours card and materials card will be ready for you when you first come in.
Do I need any experience to become a member?
We ask that you are comfortable and competent in the print processes you are interested in carrying on at Hot Bed Press. We have a mix of members from relative novices to experienced printmakers who sell their work at galleries and fairs and practice multi-disciplinary printmaking.
Do you have to do an induction before you start?
If you are unfamiliar with some aspects of the process you wanting to practice here, (screenprint, etching, relief print etc.), you may need to have an induction. You may for example have been on a course or done a degree some years ago and are unfamiliar with how we do things. We can arrange a 2 to 3 hour induction with a Technician to help you settle well in at Hot Bed Press.
Starting your membership
For your first session with us we would book you in the diary so that we make sure a Technician has time to help you, show you where things are and will be around for questions.
Can I try before I buy?
You can't use the workshop unless you are a member, but we are always happy to show anyone interested in being a member around before they set up their membership. You need to see our lovely workshop to see what you are getting access to. It would be hard to find anywhere better equipped.
Check out our courses. We’ve got courses in all manner of printmaking: screenprint, etching, relief print, letterpress, book arts and lots more. Get on our mailing list to be the first to hear when courses are announced; they book up extremely quickly!
