Relief etching is a versatile process allowing you to reinterpret existing etching plates or create new ones and printing your metal plates on a relief press!
Over this 4-week course you will be shown how to etch zinc and aluminium with copper sulphate, familiarising yourself with the different textures and properties they offer. Jacob will guide you in using sugar lift and a range of resists to produce expressive plates that can then be inked up in relief. The course will also cover counter proofing as a method for creating a secondary plate that can be used for multi-colour prints.
This course is aimed at printmakers with some experience of etching who wish to reinterpret their work but is suitable for beginners.
